Pattern entered in the FCI register under the number 246 (24. V. 1963 r.)
Recently, the third group has been enlarged by a Czech breeding product obtained as a result of the consolidation of the characteristics of hybrids of short-legged terriers, mostly Scottish terrier with sealyham terrier. Czech terrier, thanks to its size and other properties, has the good qualities of a vole and as a hunting dog in the field. Despite his short legs, he is very mobile and persistent, especially in the fight against pests, but moderately aggressive. Its advantage is its good arrangement, making it a nice companion for the guide and children. It is characterized by a pastel coat color with a silky sheen.
Head. Relatively long. The nose is large and well shaped; black in the gray-blue variety, in light coffee - the color of the skin. The bridge of the nose is straight. Lips relatively fleshy, well-fitting. Jaws strong; scissor or forceps bite. The leading edge is slight, but Visible. The frontal plane between the ears is not too wide, tapering moderately towards the nose (it is oblique to the bridge of the nose). Visible superciliary arches. Zygomatic bones not very prominent. The whole head forms a long rectangle, however not very wide. Medium-sized eyes, set slightly obliquely, with a gentle expression, overshadowed by plenty, hanging hair. In the gray-blue variety, brown to dark brown iris, in light coffee - the color of the skin. Medium-sized ears, and so pendulous, that they cover the ear opening well. Set relatively high and close to the sides of the head. Triangular ear lobes, broken along the shorter side.
Neck. Medium long, carried obliquely and relatively strong. The skin at the dewlap is a bit loose, but without a dewlap.
Torso. Withers medium long, straight ridge, only in the loin moderately arched. Chest cylindrical rather than deep. The perfect circumference of the breast behind the forelegs - 40-45 cm. Sprung ribs. Muscular loins, relatively long, wide and moderately arched. Due to the significant distance between the hips and the last rib, the belly is quite roomy, slightly tucked up. The flanks are filled. Croup strongly developed, muscular, moderately sloping.
Front limbs. Simple, with strong bones, while walking, thrown straight ahead. Well-muscled shoulder blade, well fitted and with great freedom of movement. Loose elbows, but neither tilted nor out, nor inward. Big feet with arched toes and strong claws. Heels full and strongly developed.
Hindquarters. Strong bones and well-muscled thighs, placed in parallel, in sliding movements. Lower thighs relatively short, directed backwards at an obtuse angle. Hock joint quite high and strongly developed. Hind feet larger than the front feet.
Tail. Relatively strong, not set too high, length, about 18-20 cm. In a dog in a calm mood, it is lowered or with the end slightly bent upwards, and in the excited - saber-curved, carried horizontally or slightly raised.
Robe. The leather in the gray-blue variety is gray, in light coffee - the color of meat. The length of the coat - depending on the season and needs - regulated by the haircut (except for hair on the front of the head, where the hair forms the chin and prominent eyebrows, and on the limbs, chest and abdomen). The transition between the cut hair and the natural length required a gradual one. In the show condition, the hair on the back and neck required no longer than 1,5 cm. Hair cut short - lighter, delicate, moderately undulating, while longer hair - darker, more wavy than curly. The hair on the whole body is thick and silky, shiny.
Ointment. Terriers of this breed come in two basic varieties - gray-blue colored (they are born black) and light chocolate ointment (chocolate is born). Yellow characters are allowed for both varieties, gray and white, on the head (cheeks, bottom of the mouth), neck, breasts, belly, lower extremities and under the tail. There is also a white tip of the tail or a white ruff around the neck. The main color should always prevail.
