THE MENTAL LIFE OF A DOG
The dog is a descendant of wild animals, carnivores, living in a herd - in a pack. This background should be considered, if we want to approach the problem of the processes taking place in the dog's psyche in the right way. To understand their course, you first need to know your senses, with the help of which the dog receives impressions from the world around him. To, that the dog is thinking, it is an unmistakable fact for someone, who, at least for a short time, observed the behavior of the dog in various situations. However, the cause of misunderstandings and failures in raising a dog is a misconception, that he thinks like a man. Of course it is not. The dog is indeed a very intelligent animal, but he is disproportionately lower in mental development than an adult human and has no abstract reasoning capacity. So you can't expect from him, to see the world from a human point of view. You can lower the level and tighten your horizons, but cannot be required, that any individual may go beyond the limits set by nature for him. So it is not necessary to humanize the nature of the dog, but treat it within its real abilities.
We get to know the world with the help of our senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Man is a being, in which the organ of sight plays the most important role, and the importance of the further senses is in the order given above. Most birds learn about the world in a similar way, cat and many other animals. In dogs, the importance of the senses is arranged in a slightly different order, in this way they will also be described here.
