Accompanying the cyclist, to the rider

Accompanying the cyclist, to the rider.

Only then can this exercise begin, when the dog is finished 9 one month of life and will learn to walk properly on the leg rope. Then we choose a new password, e.g.. „rower”, and we teach the dog to run with the bike on the right side of him; this is a new task for the pupil, bo dotąd ‘był przyzwyczajony towarzyszyć panu przy lewej nodze, but in this case necessary, because that way, against the right-hand traffic in our country, we put him in less danger.

Initially, we practice on roads not used by other vehicles and on a longer cable, because the dog cannot run as close with the bike as it is with the leg. Later, we give him the freedom to choose, if he wants to pass a tree or other obstacle while holding on to his bike, or leave it between you and the bike. The entire procedure is analogous to the previous exercise, with this, that the dog is more at ease, as long as he does not change sides and does not run out in front of or stay outside the bike.

It is understandable, that the guide may only commence these exercises then, when he rides a bike with complete confidence, as a possible fall may expose the dog to a painful blow, and thus completely discourage him from cycling, whom he will be afraid of. Initially, the pace and duration of exercise is kept to a minimum. As learning progresses, the duration of the trips can be extended accordingly. Rational use of exercises has a very positive effect on the health of the dog and develops endurance in it. But it is necessary to adapt the pace to the dog's running, and not the other way around. Running too fast damages your dog's heart. Of course, the dog cannot be engaged in other exercises immediately after running behind the bike, much less use it for hunting or tracking a trail. The dog should commence any work fully rested.

The dog is very happy to accompany its master on horseback riding. He can then run quite freely, because the area of horse riding is usually dirt roads, so learning is actually superfluous. Usually also a dog, and the horse get used to each other and even become friends. It is as if a pack community arises. However, you should always be careful at first, until the animals get used to each other. Because often mounts, even very calm, if they are not used to the presence of dogs, they react to their approach by kicking violently.

On this occasion, I want to emphasize, that you should never force your dog to run behind or next to the cart, and even less with a car or a tram. The circular roads are too busy, and on dirt roads, the dust behind the cart is harmful to the lungs.
