Pattern entered in the FCI register under the number 162a (16. WE. 1965 r.)

Whippet, unlike the Greyhound, was rather a pet of the poor - a dog both peaceful and hound, mainly on rabbits. Today he is mostly bred as a racing dog. Both the appearance and the pattern indicate this, that he is a greyhound - and it is in fact. However, upon closer observation of this dog, one can sense something more - as if it combined the features of a hound and a fox terrier.. Probably it has both the blood of one and the other. The dog's disposition benefited from this, who is a very nice and knowledgeable companion. Like all greyhounds, he is a clear individualist and hates rough treatment.

General impression. Beautiful dog, harmoniously built figure. Proportionality in the build of the body, well-developed muscles and an expressive gait. The dog should have great freedom of movement: front legs throws forward low to the ground, like a thoroughbred horse, while the rear - the main driving force - it slightly moves under the torso. Thanks to this, the gait is not stiff, step neither short nor crumbling, and the legs are not lifted high.

Head. Long and slender, flat, tapering towards the end of the muzzle, rather wide between the eyes. Cheeks clearly sculpted. Black nose; Bluish nose of the same color is acceptable in blue specimens. In brown specimens, a nose of the same color, in white and spotty, light is acceptable. Shining eyes, with a lively expression. The ears are folded back, small and delicate. The muzzle is equal, scissor bite

Neck. Long and muscular, neatly bent.

Torso. Chest very deep and roomy, sternum clearly marked. Wide ridge, powerful, slightly long and clearly curved over the loins, but not hunchbacked. Loins strong. Zebra well sprung, flanks well muscled.

Front limbs. Shoulders positioned obliquely, well muscled, close to the spine and coming together at the tops. Front legs strong and straight. Strong wrist, resilient. Elbows well positioned under the body.

Hindquarters. The thighs are strong and wide. Well developed knees, low hocks, drumsticks strong. The dog covers a lot of soil and shows great driving force. Fingers clearly cut, high arched. Thick and strong pads.

Tail. Long, tapering, without a pen. In action, it is gently curved upwards, but not over the back.

Robe. Fine hair, short, as tight as possible.

Ointment. All colors and patches are allowed.

Increase. Perfect height: psy 46 cm, suki 44 cm.

Tolerance is indicated when assessing, if the specimen outside of growth is of normal construction.

Disadvantages. Wrists weak, sloping or steep. Fingers open or flat. Elbows tied. Shoulders too muscular, lumpy, wide and steep. Flat sides. Too narrow front undesirable. Apple head. Muzzle too short or cut downwards. Sharply pointed or tulip-shaped ears. Undershot or overshot. Skin folds at the border of the nape and lower jaw and at the base of the neck. Restrained attitude. Back excessively arched, garbaty (as it rises above the withers). Loins too short or too long. Knees are steep. Thighs or lower legs weakly muscled. Paws loose, flat with fingers not closed. The tail is carried happily, curled or dislocated, short or cropped. Rough or two-layer coat; coarse or woolly hair. Thick and hard skin.
