GERMAN SHORT HAIRED PADDLE

GERMAN SHORT HAIRED PADDLE

The revised standard entered in the FCI register under the number 119c (4. WE. 1968 r.)

Like the pointer among English pointers, it is the oldest and most basic breed of the German Pointers. It is the breed most represented among German working dogs. Also popular in the Czech Republic, from where many good dogs came to Poland.

General impression. A dog about noble, harmonious structure, ensuring persistence, speed and strength. Not a little, nor excessively large (too big are usually tall-legged, and thus - less persistent). At first glance, the dog should show a temperament, energy (but not nervousness), his movements should be compact. Breeding consciously aimed at improving the breed should be aimed at such a dog building, which would ensure good action without losing your noble figure. The dog should have a smooth line, dry head, tail well carried and tightly fitting skin. Diagonally, long shoulder blades, deep chest, A firm back and a strong croup indicate speed, while good bone structure, a certain width of the chest and expressive muscularity throughout the torso ensure endurance.

Head. Dry, clearly outlined silhouette, nor too light, nor too heavy, appropriate in size to the body. Sufficiently wide in the cerebral part, flat arched; frontal furrow not too deep, occipital tumor not as pronounced as in the pointer. Bridge of nose when viewed from the side, arched to varying degrees (from a nobly shaped humpback to a slight rise above the straight line) generally more pronounced in a dog than in a bitch. The straight line of the bridge of the nose (rather rare) it is still acceptable, although less pretty. The end of the nose is distinct. Lips almost vertical to the edge, with a flat, gently curved arch to the corner of the lips; undesirable too pendulous. Strong cheeks, with well-developed muscles. The leading edge is mild, overhang gaps seen from the side - clearly marked. Muzzle sufficiently strong and long, enabling the dog to properly grip and retrieve the game. Ears moderately long, neither too fleshy, nor excessively flaccid. Set high and wide, smooth and no twists, close to the head, rounded at the bottom; shifted forward, they should reach approximately the corner of the lips. Medium-sized eyes, nor convex, nor deeply embedded, with the lids tightly attached. Nice brown color. Unwanted clear so-called. hawks. Brown nose, big (the bigger, the better) with well-open nostrils, wide and busy. Flesh or spotted color undesirable (only allowed on white background). Teeth strong and healthy; upper and lower molars closely matched to each other, incisors close fitting (scissor bite).

Neck. The right length, with very muscular, slightly bent neck, gradually widening towards the shoulder blades; skin as close as possible.

Torso. Klatka piersiowa raczej głęboka niż szeroka, w odpowiedniej proporcji do tułowia. Loins broad and slightly arched.
